Swim Zone Matamata Leisure Pool
Swim Zone Matamata Leisure Pool now includes a newly installed indoor structure, allowing the community to enjoy year-round swimming in a safe, controlled environment. After the previous enclosure was removed in late 2021, local councillors and community representatives, working alongside Sport Waikato, quickly began evaluating replacement options.
During their assessment, the team discovered that the existing roof failed to meet current earthquake safety standards. Additionally, one of the laminated beams showed visible signs of structural fatigue. To address these issues and maintain pool access, the Council approved a medium-term solution that could be delivered efficiently and perform reliably over time.
As a result, a 15.00m x 30.00m x 3.00m modular structure was selected to cover the leisure pool. This purpose-built enclosure was designed for long-term use, with a 25-year design life, and engineered specifically for high-humidity aquatic environments. It provides both immediate functionality and long-term durability, making it a smart investment for the facility.
Thanks to this solution, Matamata residents can continue enjoying a wide range of pool activities, including swimming lessons, fitness programs, and family recreation, all within a secure, well-ventilated, and weather-protected space.
